Bath Bombs

Lately I’ve been feeling incredibly unmotivated, tired and my anxieties have been playing up. Fun times. As a result I just haven’t had the desire to finish off a lot of the designs I’ve been working on which totally sucks. I thought perhaps if I share what I’ve been working on recently it might help motivate me.

I plan on releasing some shampoo bars as soon as I have figured out what fragrances would work best. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Currently I want to make a mild one that contains chamomile, lavender, colloidal oatmeal and maybe a couple of other things and a regular one that has some hair loving botanicals and essential oils in it. I might try and make some suited to specific hair types later. I’m testing three different ones right now in my hair and they are working well, especially considering my hair is very fine and tends to go straw-like if I over cleanse.

I already have a conditioner bar formula that I am pretty happy with for now. I just have to decide on the additives and, again, scent.

You can see a couple of the bars I’ve been testing at the left. I need to pH balance these so that they won’t strip hair of colour. 🙂

Another thing I’ve been working on is some bath bombs. Yes these are literal bath bombs and I will be calling them “bath bomb”. lol. I just have to work on the colours, test the embeds and finish the tops. I might actually look into getting a mould made for these so that I don’t need to use the plastic bath tubs.

I’ve also been working on another design that I don’t want to show a photo of yet. Hopefully I can get them to work well. We’ll see.

If you follow my instagram you will also know I have some shiny red balloons in the works. I have the name and scent worked out, I just have to get around to making them. I need to buy some more red mica first though!

Oh and I still need to make my pandas. I finally decided on a scent for them so I just have to work out the colours. I really dislike colour design when it comes to these things. I wish you could just shove whatever colours you liked in a bath bomb but then you’d end up with swamp water half the time. It blows. I feel like I use the same colours all the time because I like them – blues, pinks, purples. I need to figure out some other combinations that make nice water.

Anyway, this is kind of a boring update so I’ll stop now. Fingers crossed I get my mojo back soon. If you have any suggestions for shampoo bar scents, please let me know in the comments! 🙂

Always with the “Coming Soon”…

I thought I would update you all on some of the other stuff I’ve been working on that may, or may not, end up in the webstore soon.

If you follow my youtube channel you will know that I played around with a cookie cutter rocket bath bomb quite some time ago. I have been searching for a cheap rocket mould since then but, as some of you probably know, it’s not always easy to find cheap supplies and tools that will allow you to achieve the results you want soooo I settled on some slightly more expensive moulds to do the job. I’ve been trying to sort these out for a while so I hope they end up working well in the tub otherwise I might just throw in the towel. Especially now that Lush are apparently releasing a rocket of their own. Always the way, lol.

I made a few fizznuts to use up the remainder of the batch and then proceeded to spill water over half of them. As you do.

I’ve also been working on some metallic bath bombs that are kind of funky. Check out that water. It looks like liquid metal. I could make it look even groovier but the more I add of the mica, the more likely you are to get out of the tub with a slightly alienesque sheen to your skin.

How would you feel about bathing in something like this? The only downside thus far is that you have to swish some water down the drain after emptying the tub just to get rid of the excess sparkle. Other than that they are easy peasy. Just toss them in, they fizz away, colour the water and add a gorgeous sparkling metallic-looking shimmer.

The other thing I’ve been working on – and I am really excited about these ones – is my scientific type bath blitzer.

I haven’t thought of a name for them yet. Rest assured they will not be called “scientific bath bombs” hahah. Anyhoo, these are kinda fun. My kids enjoy watching the foam ooze out, emptying them and refilling with water to watch it ooze all over again. You can also just throw them in and watch them float around as the foam and colour shoots out.

I have a few plans for these that are going to be a lot of fun, I’m just looking into packaging options before I can add those extra options.

In other news, I’ve been trying to source some eco-friendly packaging options for my standard bath blitzers. Ideally I would like to remove as much plastic from my packaging as possible but it’s proving to be quite difficult to find packaging in standard sizes that would suit my products. Of course if I had the money I could have some custom ones manufactured but, alas, I do not… and if I did I would probably be more inclined to restock my dyes first, lol.
That being said, I have found a couple of options that might work, I just have to order some and see how they go. Fingers crossed!!

On The Workbench

I’m currently working on a few things (well, if I’m gonna be honest I’m working on at least eleventy things at the moment) one of those things happens to be a panda.

I’ve got to test these in the bath to see how they hold up and whether or not they float. Once I’ve done that I will figure out exactly how I want them to look and what I want them to do in the tub. I might make some teddy bears as well. These are quite big, weighing in at over 250g each.

I’m almost finished with Feeding Frenzy. Just doing a final test tonight and then I can make the labels and get them up on the website. Gotta make sure the suckers sink!

I also have a very cool bath blitzer that I think kids will enjoy a lot. I am not going to share teasers for this one just yet as I am keeping it under wraps until it’s released. These were born from an idea I had a while back that I haven’t been able to make just yet. It sucks not having the funds to buy the necessary packaging to make your ideas a reality. One day.

So, back to the Panda…

What the hell should a panda bath blitzer smell like??
